Giggle and Shout (the new twist and shout)

Our sweet little almost four month old started giggling yesterday, 4/25. He's been doing this adorable sucking in/breathing fast laugh thing for a couple weeks, but yesterday he actually giggled! I love it so much. I think world peace could be achieved if terrorists listened to more baby laughter. Ps. The giggle doesn't start until 20 seconds. Before that it's just screaming and me making noises.

Also, Josh and I are finished with school for the summer. And I finished American Heritage. And we're going home next week. And there's more exciting news in case you haven't heard. It deserves its own blog.

Night!

This makes me excited.

As a mother, I should be watching less television. I hope I kick the habit when I start having a toddler who roams around (crawling or rolling and whatnot) but as a mother right now who spends a lot of time cleaning and talking to her baby with the TV on in the background, this makes me really excited.
2 Soap Operas (the bane of my daytime tv existence) are getting canceled and being replaced with health shows! Yay!

The Chew will "focus on food from EVERY angle – as a source of joy, health, family ritual, friendship, breaking news, dating, fitness, weight loss," according to the press release. Mario Batali will be one of the hosts.

The other show, tentatively titled The Revolution, will focus on health and lifestyle transformations.

My midday just got a lot less dramatic and a lot more exciting.

Read the People's Magazine article here if you're so inclined.

On a different note

I can't believe I ever accomplished anything when I was this big. Did I use to fall over a lot? This was only 36 weeks, too. I have much bigger pictures from 41 weeks but they have actual belly skin showing, and I'm not sure how comfortable we all are with that. So...36 weeks. Goodness.

3 months old!

Technically it's his 4th month of life though, so I'm torn on calling this month 3 or 4. I guess I have to stick with 3 months though or else his birthday will come one month too soon.

I had to post this second one even though it has my feet in it cause I think it's hilarious. I love Henry's face. He's just so stinkin' cute!!

See you at month 4!

Baby Blessing

Henry Rex was blessed on March 6, 2010. We were lucky to share the day with Jacob and Abbey's little girl, Kate. She was born exactly 2 weeks after Henry. It's sort of awesome, because Henry's birthday will be first, then exactly a week later it's Josh's birthday, then exactly a week later, it's Kate's birthday. I won't be forgetting the second two for sure anymore. But sorry, no promises for you, little Henry.

The prep for his big day. He had to wear gloves because we had a host of scratching incidents during nap time in the days leading up to the blessing.

Henry's "Before" shot.

These babies and their red eyes. If I could fix it without making them look demonic (hello black eyes) I would.

We blessed Henry in the lobby/common room of my Grandparents' building. It was so perfect to bless him there! This is the same lobby where my parents had their wedding reception and Mallory had her baptism after-party, and where many many other family events have taken place. The room was also renovated like a month earlier, so it was completely gorgeous.

My wonderful grandparents holding "Cute little baby Henry" (Adrie's name for HRex)

These babies are best friends already. And that is their Grandpa holding them both!

I don't have any pictures of the food, but we had some crazy good lasagna and jubilee jumbles (affectionately referred to as "jubes") and chocolate cake, lemon cake, fruit and veggies, you get it. It was the perfect celebration. Thank you to everyone who came, helped, or wanted to come/help. And to the people who don't fall in that category.....hi.

So anyway, my son is blessed. And he's now 3 months old. And I love him. And also, I just wrote 1300 words of American Heritage essay so that is why this reads like an essay instead of a blog. Cheers.

Growing, growing, growing

I figured I gotta blog before the 1 month mark of the last time I blogged, or before the 3rd month of Henry's life is over. Can you believe it's been 2 months? I have so many pictures to post and share and I haven't even told my birth story yet. I am so sorry.

Ready for Henry's growth chart?
Months 0, 1, and 2.

His list of accomplishments now are: almost holding his own head up, sleeping for 8 hours each night, smiling nearly on command, an almost laugh, wiggling and moving his arms and legs, not hating tummy time (sometimes), a small bald spot on the back of his head, and sleeping in a big boy crib. He is so freakin' cute. I never expected myself to be as in love with a small child as I am and I seriously believe he's the cutest thing to ever live. Blessing day was yesterday! You can look forward to a post about that soon since I have the pictures loaded anyway.

What the day?!

So when I read baby wise and found out that Henry gets to take an hour to an hour and a half nap in-between feedings (like 7 a day) I was all excited that I'd actually have time to get things done! Like: blogging, writing cards, sending off baby announcements, skype, HOMEWORK AND SCHOOL. Nobody told me the mess I'd make taking care of the baby for the hour he's awake would take up the 1.5 hours of sleep to clean. Did that make any sense? Moral of the story is this: babies are messy and life is busier and at the same time less busy than I ever imagined.

Okay bye.

On a hilarious note

This is what I wore my first day back at school.

Do you notice anything wrong with this picture? Because I sure didn't until I got back home. Lucky for me, it was cold, and I wore my jacket all day anyway. Thank you, 4-days-post-delivery-and-5-hours-of-sleep brain.

ps.
Just in case you didn't notice, my shirt is backwards AND inside out.

My next task is daunting

So I'll post a few pictures instead. Then I'll write all the gory labor story and cute baby info ya'll wanna hear.
In chronological order from top to bottom, left to right...

40-5 days

Well folks, I'm past my due date. But I got to celebrate Christmas, Williams style. All the pictures I have of me on Christmas Eve/Christmas day I don't think I look at ALL pregnant, i think it's the funny angle of the camera. So I have for your enjoyment 2 separate occasions on which I wore the SAME maternity sweater. You can't blame a girl for wearing the one fancy shirt she can still fit in, can you?

Christmas party (Dec 13- 38 weeks, 5 days)

Christmas Eve (40 weeks, 2 days)

Josh and I had a wonderful time being taken care of and having our last "child" Christmas at Aunt Cheri's house. Santa came and filled our stockings and we got so many unexpected gifts! We only wish that baby would've come....although he wouldn't count as an unexpected gift because he's supposed to be here by now.

We ate the world's largest slab of prime rib for Christmas Eve dinner as well as plenty of other delicious foods. Tom and Mary (Mary who is Kendall's cousin/older sister) and their kids: Talia, Landen, and Madilyn spent the night at Cheri's house as well. They're the adorable kids featured with Josh and me above. And this picture shows our "Santa faces". I was channeling Grandpa, I think.

So. I have a Doctor's appointment tomorrow morning and my induction is set for Thursday. I'm not miserable in any way, except I wish the baby would come. I'm starting to get nervous about recovering before school starts. Other than that, Josh and I are doing good!

40 Weeks

On the dot. Today is my due date. In celebration, I worked from 9-5. I can't decide if I hope it's my last day of work or not?

Sooo Baby C obviously didn't arrive when he was supposed to...aka right after my last final. At this point, I'm fine with him staying inside so we can celebrate a fairly normal (one where we still get to be children) Christmas in Salt Lake with the Cheri/Randy family. Now we hope for December 27th.

Alaina took some good pictures of us this last week-so you get to see how big I look at 39, almost 40 weeks preggers.
The hilarious part about that second picture with Adrie is right after she was saying, "I'M WAAAAY BIGGER!" And bemoaning her huge belly. She is so kind.

Also, it's 11 PM and I can't sleep. I think since I worked from sun-up to sun-down (literally...today's the 2nd shortest day of the year) Baby C was all rocked to sleep all day and now he's up with a vengeance. He's been moving and kicking my ribs and hips since 6, so my hope is he'll go to sleep fairly soon. I'm also insanely scatter brained so please forgive my blogging.

And have yourself a Merry Christmas. It's only 2 days away now. :)

12.14.2010

38 wks 6 days

Really fast update:
Baby's head is still high so that might be a problem
1 Cm dialated (practically nothing)
Induction set for the 30th
Insane nasal congestion
New ear stuffiness
Stretch marks
1 final left.

Okay. And I'm planning on going into labor on Thursday. Just an FYI...let's see if positive thinking gets this baby here!

Week 36

Ready for the crazy that is picture for week 36? I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT I'M PREGNANT. Well, at least that big pregnant. Sometimes I fool myself into thinking I just look a little fat instead of the hugely pregnant that I am. I am noticing more though how many people ask me how close I am, and most are surprised that I only have 3/4 weeks left. Wooooo.

I can't bend over very well and putting on shoes is the biggest pain ever. This snow blizzard we've had the last two days isn't very good for my shoe choice which consists of having to tuck my pants into boots or tie up my tennis shoes, both of which are exceedingly difficult tasks. I'm so lucky Josh can help me tie my shoes before I leave for school in the morning.

Still no heartburn, but I have crazy RLS (restless legs-a disease I used to make fun of but now I accept it's painful reality) that keeps me awake about half the nights of the week. Thankfully, foam rolling and stretching does help and I always get to sleep eventually.

Been doing some sorts of nesting stuff. Josh and I got a bookshelf/toy shelf for the nursery! It's one of the 3x3 square shelves that everyone has, but I've been wanting it since day one so I feel pretty accomplished finally having it. We're in the process of getting a crib (waiting for a 20% off coupon...come on Babies R Us) and I have to figure out what kind of bedding I want in it. The crib is a last minute decision as we couldn't decide between the pack and play or a crib. Thankfully we're not in a rush for the crib because we have the Williams bassinet for baby's first couple weeks/months. Other than some moving and setting up, I de-tagged a bunch of baby clothes to wash for Baby C's arrival. I can hardly believe it's 4 weeks away! Josh and I are finally signing up for our last minute 6 hour cram session of a prenatal class this Saturday. I reeeeally hope they still have openings.

Please excuse the random trains of thought...that's my brain on pregnancy hormones. I want to blog about how wonderful Thanksgiving was....I promise it's coming soon! Cheers! And may Baby C wait another 2 weeks.

OH YEAH and all my Christmas decorations are up. Pictures are sure to follow.

10.06.2010

Lately,

I am 29 weeks pregnant.

Baby C has this new trick of waking me up in the morning. Approximately 6 in the morning when I don't have to wake up until 7:30. How does he wake me up, you ask? He's a jumper-mover. He must push with his arms and legs in opposite directions, and when I lay on my side he moves his head until I move. It's sort of adorable until I remember he'll be out in 3 months and I actually have to get out of bed to take care of him. But he'll be cute, so it's ok.

I had a family baby shower last week and got some adorable clothing and THE COOLEST STROLLER EVER. It's bright yellow, has a matching car seat/infant carrier, it's super light, and beautiful. The Williams family also has a bassinet that started with Sally, went to Alaina, then Erica, and is now in my possession for Baby C. It's gonna be perfect for the first couple months so we can keep Baby C close to us.

That's all for now. I'm off to work and study for 2 midterms this week. Cheers!
